We took a day trip to the iconic and majestic Mount Fuji. Luckily, it was a clear day and the peak wasn't hiding in the clouds. Derek and I took a walk around the lake, ate food and explored the little tourist town. We also planned on going to an onsen, a hot spring bath, but unfortunately absolutely no tattoos were aloud which meant Derek was denied. I would have gone alone but I couldn't stand the thought of Derek being stranded in the cold parking lot (we were in the middle of nowhere), depressed in hatred of his teenage naivete, while I got pampered. Even with the kink in our plans Mt. Fuji was awe inspiring.
Cute Fuji cookies we bought for our Airbnb hosts. Kaji, the husband, is in love with Mount Fuji. |
After we got off the train we happened to run into my favorite doughnut place of all time, DOUGHNUT PLANT!!! I was worried after the disappointment of Seoul's branch but these proved to be pretty close to the ones we got in NYC.
